Last week at X I cut back on hours due to a hectic school week but I did get a few things done, not including my blog posts. Monday we had our meeting and went over the projects for the week. I actually had to work on a non-X client job for Tiffanie. She is on the board of the Baton Rouge Advertisement Federation and they began designing and campaigning for the 2015 Addys in January. The designs are always based on themes and this year is Prom Night. The design was handed over to me but I had to keep within the restrictions of what was already designed by a different person on the board. I had to take the poster design and turn it into a 2-sided post card Call for Entry card. I tried to make it work within what I was given and still be happy to put Tiffanie’s name and mine on it. I added a few things to help the design and filled in the text and sponsors.
While I worked on the post card without spending too much time on it, I had to go back to the Ruffino’s Christmas campaign. We needed to put together a flyer or brochure promoting the Ruffino’s promo items or Christmas gifts. We had been focused on the gift cards but this brochure needed to cover the other products Ruffino’s offers and promotes during the holidays. I was given the whole project and it needed to stick within the design restrictions I set for myself when I did the table tent and poster designs for the Black Friday deal. The brochure highlights the Seasons of Louisiana cookbook that X designed, a Ruffino’s Experience package, a basket gift set, cooking classes, and the gift cards of course. I tried to implement a similar photo layout for each product that fits in with the image we chose for the ads and for the brochure cover. Overall, I think it came out nice and represents Ruffino’s Christmas well.
Those were the two major things I worked on during the week, but during slow times I also had to begin helping Tiffanie search through iStock photos for a later project.
